A .qbo file is a QuickBooks Web Connect download. Excel can’t open it, and QuickBooks only shows it after you import it. Converting it to CSV lets you review every transaction first, share it with your accountant, or move it into another program.
The CSV has four columns — Date, Description, Memo, Amount — with withdrawals as negative numbers.
How to use it

- Check the preview.
- Download the CSV and open it in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes for files with up to 20 transactions, plus 2 free PDF statements a day. For bigger files you can buy a pack of 10 conversions or go unlimited — see pricing.
Is my bank data uploaded anywhere?
CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX, QFX and QBO files are converted entirely in your browser and never leave your computer. PDFs have to be read on our server: we send the PDF to our AI provider, Anthropic, to pull out the transactions, return them to you and keep nothing — not the PDF, not the transactions.
Can I open a QBO file in Excel?
Not directly — Excel doesn’t understand the Web Connect format. Convert it to CSV here and Excel opens it normally.
Does this work with QFX and OFX files too?
Yes. QBO, QFX and OFX share the same structure, so you can drop any of them.
