Excel to QBO Converter

Convert Excel (.xlsx, .xls) bank statements and transaction lists into QBO files for QuickBooks. Free up to 20 transactions, runs in your browser.

Have transactions in a spreadsheet — an Excel export from your bank, a list your client sent, or a cleaned-up statement? Convert the workbook straight to a .qbo file instead of re-typing anything into QuickBooks.

We read the first sheet. It needs a header row with a Date column and either an Amount column or separate Debit and Credit columns.

Import the QBO file into QuickBooks Desktop

  1. In QuickBooks Desktop, open File › Utilities › Import › Web Connect Files.
  2. Select the .qbo file you downloaded.
  3. Link it to an existing bank account or let QuickBooks create a new one.
  4. Review and accept the transactions in Bank Feeds.

Import it into QuickBooks Online

  1. In QuickBooks Online, go to Bank transactions and choose Upload transactions (or Link account › Upload from file).
  2. Pick the .qbo file and the QuickBooks account it belongs to.
  3. Review the imported transactions in the For review tab.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes for files with up to 20 transactions, plus 2 free PDF statements a day. For bigger files you can buy a pack of 10 conversions or go unlimited — see pricing.

Is my bank data uploaded anywhere?

CSV, Excel, QIF, OFX, QFX and QBO files are converted entirely in your browser and never leave your computer. PDFs have to be read on our server: we send the PDF to our AI provider, Anthropic, to pull out the transactions, return them to you and keep nothing — not the PDF, not the transactions.

My workbook has several sheets.

Only the first sheet is read. Move the transactions you want to convert to the first sheet, or save that sheet as CSV.

Do formulas work?

Yes — we read the values Excel displays, so formula results are converted like normal numbers.

My credit card charges came out as deposits. How do I fix it?

Some card issuers export charges as positive numbers. Choose Credit card as the account type and tick Flip signs before downloading.
